COMPILATION EF - for ELF, The Festival of Lights, the Fat Man (Santa that is), and The celebration of Family…
and ef -fin awesome times! if youre worried about anything… ef it! … its just the holidays… the most wonderful time of the year!
The letter E left me with a very limited selection of semi sleepy tunes… but F is just a letter great for words that make the most lively songs!! What to do?! So many tunes to choose from. Well, I mixed my faves up and put them all together in a hyper mega mix. 27 tunes!! Why 27!? For the 12 days of Christmas of course, + the 8 days of Hanukkah + 7 days of Kwanzaa… thats a total of 27!! If I missed a holiday I apologize but those are the most popular of the season… Now, don’t ask me to choose which songs go for which holiday’s I will leave that up to you, the most important part… Enjoy. xo

1. Eternal Love - Utopia
The ultimate sing along for anytime! If you’re having a bad day… Eternal Love, if you’re having a good day, Eternal Love… it never fails, and obviously written by one of the best bands to ever exist.
2. Echoes - Klaxons
Klaxons are a not so secret obsession of mine … I’ve always loved their music, and am happy to say, though we aren’t homies, I have had a few fun memorable moments hanging with them. Echoes from the long awaited album Surfing the Void, gave us everything we would hope for from the guys.
3. Empathy - Crystal Castles
Though II by Crystal Castles is a little more etherial and ambient sounding than their first more 8 bit driven release… Its still an awesome follow up, you probably already have a love for them… if not… heres great place to start.
4. Fade to Grey - Visage
OG electro jam. Never gets old. One of my faves.
5. Fantastic 6 - Alphabeat
I <3 Alphabeat!! This is from their first release “This is Alphabeat” that I pretty much listened to on repeat when I got the thing. Yes, super happy almost musical theatre sounding, but this is only one track.. check out the rest. However, if you love those shows on TV about musicals like glee you may love Alphabeat even more.
6. Fat Man - Jethro Tull
Hear the bells? Its hard for me to hear this song and not think he’s singing about Santa Claus especially because of the sleigh bell sound… but when I actually have a listen, its a little strange… either way, I’m going to go with “This song is about Santa” and leave it there… thats why its in the mix.
7. Europa and the Pirate Twins - Thomas Dolby
Uh .. I couldn’t leave one of my favorite songs of all time out of this mix. So there you go. Now you know.
8. Focker - Late of the Pier
When Late of the Pier came out with this single a while back maybe 4 years, I pretty much flipped. I’m sharing with you because I feel like there aren’t enough people out there that know about this band… so yes share!
9. Feel It All Around - Washed Out
I stumbled upon this tune while falling into the wormhole of the internet, and was so pleasantly surprised I had to share. Check him out.
10. Empire Ants (feat. Little Dragon) - Gorillaz
Super chill. Listen!! A groovy CHUNE!
11. Flash Delirium - MGMT
From their second album “Congratulations” that didn’t get nearly as much of a response as the first. This release is more about the entire album of songs rather than the singles and I have caught myself listening repeatedly. 60s -70s psyche.
12. Frayed - The Naked and Famous
Alisa Xayalith what a great name! I love her voice.. and I even love this band more because they are from New Zealand!
13. Far Away - Cut Copy
From New Zealand to neighbor land Australia where another great band comes from… Cut Copy makes groovy and sweet tunes, and this is one of the best… Also when you think of holidays you think of going far away… I would like to go to Australia sometime for a summertime Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa day!
14. Flowers and Beads - Iron Butterfly
This song has lyrics that any girl would hope their love would say to them, if they lived in San Fransisco during the 60’s of course. <3
15. Falling - Olive
Love is a magical thing, and this song never fails to deliver that magical feeling. This is one of my favorite tunes of all time.
16. Fulham 2 Waterloo (Emalkay Remix) - Caspa
Its getting all hype in here.
17. Emerge - Fischerspooner
Electroclassic. Circa 2001- 2003 you couldn’t go anywhere without hearing some version of this track… there was a reason for that its called brilliance.
18. Folk Rock - Wax Stag
Simply awesome. Reminiscent of all of your favorite 8bit video game tracks, wax stags hypnotic tracks danced me through many days of train commuting.
19. For Better for Worse - Sportsday Megaphone
Speaking of 8bit… here’s another sweet dude that made some fun trax with little 8bit bells and whistles. Yes, for a moment about 4 years ago, I listened to a lot of 8bit stuff… and yes, I throw secret 8bit pajama dance parties for myself occasionally.
20. Freewill - Rush
You’re about to be Rushified.
21. Future Starts Slow - The Kills
I have to be honest, I have a few of The Kills albums on my computer, but hardly listen to them. I find myself turning more toward the electronic stuff… sooooooo I felt that they deserved to be in the mix because they are a great band.
22. Fascination - La Roux
“Oooooh Fascination” … La Roux is so easy to sing along to … and I can’t wait to hear some new tunes from them… exciting!!
23. Friday On My Mind - David Bowie
Originally written and performed by The Easybeats, David Bowie covered this tune and put it on his cover album “Pin Ups” Wow! Such a great song. The original, and of course, by the icon we love David Bowie. He’s got the best expression in his voice.
24. Free Man In Paris - Joni Mitchell
If you’ve ever been on the road of possibly experienced a lot of fame you can understand what its like to be in a city, but not be able to see that city. This song by Joni was written a the height of her career.. and speaks her heart.
25. Excuse, Excuse - The Seeds
Groovy tunes keep jammin… Here’s one that makes no excuse.
26. The Future Will Come - The Juan MacLean
The beat and bass line of this song is just like Losing my Edge by LCD Soundsystem… hmmm I wonder why?? Well its The Juan MacLean of course.
27. The Fairest Of The Seasons - Nico
Well I think that this time of the year can be the fairest of the seasons, this song just reminds you that hey, you’re not alone… someone out there is thinking the same stuff so take it easy and have a great time!!
When this time of the year comes around it seems like Christmas is everywhere! .. but there’s so much more and so many people celebrating different things. I think that its awesome that we have the freedom to celebrate whatever holidays we want as long as we aren’t harming anyone else, and I love hearing cultural stories different families versions of what Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa… whatever! Being able to appreciate this freedom is something I will be cherishing throughout the season… and we cant forget that almost everyone in the world will be celebrating one holiday together for sure and that is …THE NEW YEAR! HOW AWESOME!! 2012!! Too much exicitement!!
So there you have it. An extra long E F Compilation to get you through the holidays… family friendly too! I <3 you all and wish you the best the season has to offer! xoxo
