SISELY TREASURE
What is UPdate?!

Hello friends…

I promised an update today and the day is almost done so I apologize for the literal 11th hour.

For my nearest and dearest, I realize that you have been patiently waiting on some new tunes.  New tunes, very very soon and worth the wait I promise.  Million Hands is on hold. Its all finished, however its just not release time and I’m going to hold off on it because a few other things cut in line.

I’m recording with my new band this week.  You heard correct… new band. Not an already existing band ..brand new.

I will be posting more updates in a few days… and for the near and dear, you will be the first to know and hear!  I am counting on you to spread the word!

“Sisely Treasure” isn’t going anywhere however the “solo” stuff is currently going to be more of features on other artists tracks for now… with a spankin new tune that I will get to you as soon as I got it. (its done folks just waiting in line)

Please “like” my music page if you haven’t already!

Happy Valentine Love rant

Everyone wants Love.

Whether you’re wanting to be in love or just to feel loved by friends family significant others… Humans would not survive without it!

Valentine’s Day… is supposed to be all about LovE!

If you are having the best Valentine’s Day of your life then that is sooo nice a awesome!!  Congratulations for LovE!

All too often Valentines Day is thrown into a cauldron boiling over with selfish expectations.

What should i get?  What do i hope to get?  If he/she doesn’t get me this/that I’m going to be disappointed… what kind of gift is going to show my love…? How much money should I spend? what clothes should i wear?  Eff it!  I’m going out and doing something crazy because IM SINGLE!  or Im mad or angry at all members of the opposite sex because Im single.

There are so many things to get caught up in that makes Valentines Day often the complete opposite of what we are supposed to be celebrating… LOVE!

Sure its just a holiday, so what why does it matter? who cares! right?

Then I think ..What ever happened to that staying up all night and writing all of our classmates names on Valentines and getting so excited to eat candy…?

Well, we grew up I guess… and now I get to watch the kids do it…

Kids are remarkable love sponges.

Well I think that today is a great day to take the opportunity to recognize all of the things that we actually love.

To take a moment and recognize where love IS and maybe where love is lacking and to share our love for things, life, each other, with Others!

We often miss the windows to share our love.  Valentines Day could be so much more than just a day to give candy and go to a overly anticipated expensive dinner.  Try to swoon a new partner, mope about an old one, or just get laid.  Most of us are just looking for that same thing… Love… and sure candies and flowers and jewelry and dinners are nice but they are no substitute for that true feeling of being loved.  Loved for exactly who you are… no expectations or judgements.  Just you and love!!  So yeah, Valentines day gives us a reminder to recognize every window of opportunity to share love with others!   so I love you guys!

to every husband and wife

To every mom and dad …

To every grandma and grandpa…

to every sister and brother

girlfriend and boyfriend

dog, cat, bird, turtle, fish, cow, pig, dinosaur, bee, spider, beetle, tree, flower… etc..

yoga, surfing, sun, rain, clear skies, clouds… you get it.

California, I love you.

Hawaii, London, NYC, Nashville, Canada, Mexico, the world… I LOVE YOU!

Happy Valentines Day.

I’ve always loved this song, and decided I would just sing it for you…
Its raw, rough around the edges, just me straight into the computer 1 take and my phone started ringing… I decided to just leave it the way it is. <3 <3 <3
Freedom and Family - Thank you!!

The holiday season tends to stir up a lot of thoughts.

Its the end of the year.  You may be off of school, off of work, working like crazy, home for the holidays away for the holidays… whatever it is, you’re most likely thinking about it.

I’ve been doing my share of thinking.

Freedom is the most important thing in the world!

The freedom to think, for yourself… to decide what’s right, what’s wrong.  To decide if you want to decide what’s right or wrong or if you want someone else to decide for you… you’re still making a choice.  The freedom to listen to whatever music you want to listen to.  The freedom to wear whatever clothes you want. (for the most part as long as its considerably decent and pretty much not naked.. but there’s also freedom to live in a place where its acceptable to be naked!) The freedom to date whoever you want because you love them, or break up with them because you no longer love them.  The freedom to eat what you want when you want.  Freedom!!  My grandfather fought for our freedom… thank you! If it weren’t for him, I and many others wouldn’t be here.  The freedom to celebrate whatever holiday we choose to celebrate, or to not celebrate at all.

I am so grateful for this freedom.

Freedom is something that is easily taken for granted when you have it.

The same goes with family.

I was talking with an acquaintance this evening about traveling for the holidays, and I asked “are you going back to visit your family?” and she replied “no, unfortunately all of my family are deceased.”  …

That statement just halted my thought.  NO family?  None?

Over the weekend my extended family had our yearly Christmas celebration.  So much delicious food, smiling faces, kids, adults, adult beverages, cookies, candy, birthdays, gifts! gifts! gifts!!  I mean WOW!! A lot of family to love and share our love with.  In the midst of so much love, how on earth could there be room for drama?  Well, there was some drama. .. BUT I realized what the reason for any of the drama was… and it was the fact that people were feeling taken for granted.

I wanted to share this with you!… because YOU can do something about it!  We all can. We can take the chance right now to be grateful for everything that we do have.  Family! Friends! Freedom! and put aside the things that we don’t have for a moment. .. Because its never about what you don’t have… its only about what you got… and I know, when the whole world tells you its about what you don’t have, it becomes hard sometimes to remember simply what you got.

So I want to thank you all for being out there, listening, sharing, supporting, loving.. and being you!!

I will be counting the blessings through the holidays, and sending love!

xo

baby Jesus

My little blurb for Compilation EF left something out.

Thats baby Jesus.

Elves, Santa, trees, candy canes, and stockings tend to outshine the real reason for “Christ”mas.  The compilation blurb was meant for fun like jingle bells!.. but the most important part of the season is recognizing the love we share and coming together, no matter which religion it is, we can all share that commonality.  So if its baby Jesus, or The Festival of Lights, The Celebration of Family, or nothing at all… most likely you will have a few days off of work to appreciate the simple things in life… so cheers!

COMPILATION EF - for ELF, The Festival of Lights, the Fat Man (Santa that is), and The celebration of Family…

and ef -fin awesome times! if youre worried about anything…  ef it! … its just the holidays… the most wonderful time of the year!

The letter E left me with a very limited selection of semi sleepy tunes… but F is just a letter great for words that make the most lively songs!!  What to do?!  So many tunes to choose from.  Well, I mixed my faves up and put them all together in a hyper mega mix.  27 tunes!!  Why 27!?  For the 12 days of Christmas of course, + the 8 days of Hanukkah + 7 days of Kwanzaa… thats a total of 27!!  If I missed a holiday I apologize but those are the most popular of the season… Now, don’t ask me to choose which songs go for which holiday’s I will leave that up to you, the most important part… Enjoy. xo

1.  Eternal Love - Utopia

The ultimate sing along for anytime!  If you’re having a bad day… Eternal Love, if you’re having a good day, Eternal Love… it never fails, and obviously written by one of the best bands to ever exist.

2. Echoes - Klaxons

Klaxons are a not so secret obsession of mine … I’ve always loved their music, and am happy to say, though we aren’t homies, I have had a few fun memorable moments hanging with them.  Echoes from the long awaited album Surfing the Void, gave us everything we would hope for from the guys.

3. Empathy - Crystal Castles

Though II by Crystal Castles is a little more etherial and ambient sounding than their first more 8 bit driven release… Its still an awesome follow up, you probably already have a love for them… if not… heres great place to start.

4. Fade to Grey - Visage

OG electro jam.  Never gets old. One of my faves.

5. Fantastic 6 - Alphabeat

I <3 Alphabeat!! This is from their first release “This is Alphabeat” that I pretty much listened to on repeat when I got the thing.  Yes, super happy almost musical theatre sounding, but this is only one track.. check out the rest.  However, if you love those  shows on TV about musicals like glee you may love Alphabeat even more.

6. Fat Man - Jethro Tull

Hear the bells?  Its hard for me to hear this song and not think he’s singing about Santa Claus especially because of the sleigh bell sound… but when I actually have a listen, its a little strange… either way, I’m going to go with “This song is about Santa” and leave it there… thats why its in the mix.

7.  Europa and the Pirate Twins - Thomas Dolby

Uh .. I couldn’t leave one of my favorite songs of all time out of this mix.  So there you go.  Now you know.

8. Focker - Late of the Pier

When Late of the Pier came out with this single a while back maybe 4 years, I pretty much flipped.  I’m sharing with you because I feel like there aren’t enough people out there that know about this band… so yes share!

9.  Feel It All Around - Washed Out

I stumbled upon this tune while falling into the wormhole of the internet, and was so pleasantly surprised I had to share.  Check him out.

10. Empire Ants (feat. Little Dragon) - Gorillaz

Super chill.  Listen!!  A groovy CHUNE!

11. Flash Delirium - MGMT

From their second album “Congratulations”  that didn’t get nearly as much of a response as the first. This release is more about the entire album of songs rather than the singles and I have caught myself listening repeatedly. 60s -70s psyche.

12. Frayed - The Naked and Famous

Alisa Xayalith what a great name! I love her voice.. and I even love this band more because they are from New Zealand!

13.  Far Away - Cut Copy

From New Zealand to neighbor land Australia where another great band comes from… Cut Copy makes groovy and sweet tunes, and this is one of the best… Also when you think of holidays you think of going far away… I would like to go to Australia sometime for a summertime Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa day!

14. Flowers and Beads - Iron Butterfly

This song has lyrics that any girl would hope their love would say to them, if they lived in San Fransisco during the 60’s of course.  <3

15.  Falling - Olive

Love is a magical thing, and this song never fails to deliver that magical feeling.  This is one of my favorite tunes of all time.

16. Fulham 2 Waterloo (Emalkay Remix) - Caspa

Its getting all hype in here.

17.  Emerge - Fischerspooner

Electroclassic.  Circa 2001- 2003 you couldn’t go anywhere without hearing some version of this track… there was a reason for that its called brilliance.

18.  Folk Rock - Wax Stag

Simply awesome.  Reminiscent of all of your favorite 8bit video game tracks, wax stags hypnotic tracks danced me through many days of train commuting.

19.  For Better for Worse - Sportsday Megaphone

Speaking of 8bit… here’s another sweet dude that made some fun trax with little 8bit bells and whistles.  Yes, for a moment about 4 years ago, I listened to a lot of 8bit stuff… and yes, I throw secret 8bit pajama dance parties for myself occasionally.

20. Freewill - Rush

You’re about to be Rushified.

21. Future Starts Slow - The Kills

I have to be honest, I have a few of The Kills albums on my computer, but hardly listen to them.  I find myself turning more toward the electronic stuff… sooooooo I felt that they deserved to be in the mix because they are a great band.

22. Fascination - La Roux

“Oooooh Fascination” … La Roux is so easy to sing along to … and I can’t wait to hear some new tunes from them… exciting!!

23. Friday On My Mind - David Bowie

Originally written and performed by The Easybeats, David Bowie covered this tune and put it on his cover album “Pin Ups”  Wow!  Such a great song.  The original, and of course, by the icon we love David Bowie.  He’s got the best expression in his voice.

24. Free Man In Paris - Joni Mitchell

If you’ve ever been on the road of possibly experienced a lot of fame you can understand what its like to be in a city, but not be able to see that city.  This song by Joni was written a the height of her career.. and speaks her heart.

25.  Excuse, Excuse - The Seeds

Groovy tunes keep jammin… Here’s one that makes no excuse.

26. The Future Will Come - The Juan MacLean

The beat and bass line of this song is just like Losing my Edge by LCD Soundsystem… hmmm I wonder why??  Well its The Juan MacLean of course.

27.  The Fairest Of The Seasons - Nico

Well I think that this time of the year can be the fairest of the seasons, this song just reminds you that hey, you’re not alone… someone out there is thinking the same stuff so take it easy and have a great time!!

When this time of the year comes around it seems like Christmas is everywhere!  .. but there’s so much more and so many people celebrating different things.  I think that its awesome that we have the freedom to celebrate whatever holidays we want as long as we aren’t harming anyone else, and I love hearing cultural stories different families versions of what Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa… whatever!  Being able to appreciate this freedom is something I will be cherishing throughout the season… and we cant forget that almost everyone in the world will be celebrating one holiday together for sure and that is …THE NEW YEAR!  HOW AWESOME!! 2012!!  Too much exicitement!!

So there you have it.  An extra long E F Compilation to get you through the holidays… family friendly too!  I <3 you all and wish you the best the season has to offer! xoxo

Compilation EF

“Working on Thanksgiving”: Video cameras in classrooms and a world of petitions…

What do you think about this?

Every child now has a camera on their phone.  So they are able to video tape their teachers “bullying” them.

Any person who has a complaint about their job can now petition and get the world to sign it so they don’t have to work certain hours.

Don’t get me wrong.  I love the new world of petitioning.  Global awareness is a powerful tool, and when it’s used properly it can change societies.

… but what happens when these tools are are abused?

I received an email that said “Working on Thanksgiving”.

I opened the email thinking that it must be someone asking if I would like to volunteer my time to “work” on thanksgiving… helping out at a shelter or wherever help was needed…. but it wasn’t that at all.  It was an email, asking me to sign a petition because “While most of America will be sleeping off a belly full of turkey, stuffing, and pie next Thursday night, 29-year-old Anthony Hardwick will be waking up for a long night of work.”

I couldn’t help but think… most of America??.. thats a huge assumption.  A lot of people in the US are out of work, going to be working, and or can’t even be with their families because of work, this Thanksgiving.

I thought WOW!  He has a job!… and a wonderful family to spend dinner with!  Isn’t that awesome?!  Yeah sure it sucks he has to go to work very early because its the BIGGEST SHOPPING DAY OF THE YEAR! and he works RETAIL! .. but don’t you just eat and then sleep on Thanksgiving anyway? He can eat, take a nap, and then go to work.

Well, he may not have to, because he got a lot of people to sympathize and its making a lot of noise!

I am just not sure about how I feel about this.  … I thought well, what’s next!?  The teenager petitioning to have less homework?

When did we get so soft?!

Now there is a video of a teacher “bullying” a student. — I DO NOT CONDONE BULLYING OF ANY KIND!!  So please don’t misunderstand me when I say.. what was the student doing with the video camera in the class?!

Don’t teachers have it hard enough with an overstuffed room of teenagers now with CELLPHONES!?  I don’t think it’s fair that a child can just post a video on the internet, possibly out of context, for the whole world to see, possibly ruining the life of a normally decent teacher having a hard day.

Like I said, I don’t know what happened, it could be an every day thing the teacher does this all the time, and deserved to be exposed. .. but it could also be the kids need to turn their phones off and listen to THEIR TEACHERS!!

The point is.. there is no filter with the internet.

THIS in fact is a completely different issue.. now we are also dealing with internet censorship!!  SOOOO heres my two cents…

We don’t need censorship!… but we need to get smart folks.  Remember there are always two sides to the story and we should use judgement before just following the herd… because the herds are getting bigger now that the internet exists and every voice is powerful… LETS NOT ABUSE OUR POWER rendering ourselves powerless by making a fuss over every little thing that happens, and if you disagree or agree more power too you!!  Just please, for the sake of the world, make sure you’re doing what’s true to your heart, not just what’s popular at the time.

Repost Retweet Recycle if you agree.

and Happy (early) Thanksgiving

COMPILATION D | siselytreasure

My new sounds

Compilation D - Divine Destiny Diving Dancin’ Shoes

I could’ve gone with Dark, or Death, or Devil, but I chose to go with Dance (instead of Dreary tunes).  We Dealt with Dark Devils and Death last month… now…. there’s been all kinds of hype around 11 11 11 being a super energetic Date that’s sprung up talk about opening of a portal to the Divine to find your true Destiny!  WOW!  Haha!  Pretty crazy stuff, and whatever that means to you or me I’ve Decided that its a great time to DANCE!  Here are 11 songs to go with the theme…

So put your Divine Destiny portal Diving shoes on and Dance in the new Day!

http://soundcloud.com/siselytreasure/compilation-d

1.  Drop the Tough - Groove Armada

The first time I heard this song I played it on repeat.  Still stands as one of grooviest dance - y jams.

2.  Day of the Sunflowers (We March On feat. Yoko Ono) - Basement Jaxx

Nothing goes better with the psychedelic theme than a vocal from Yoko Ono!  I hear that Dave Aude is producing on her latest record!!   Something I am definitely looking forward to hearing… until then you can pump this jam.

3. Dusk Till Dawn - Ladyhawke

Ladyhawke!   A band/artist that totally grew on me!  This is one of my favorite songs from her/them.  You won’t be able to get it out of your head I tell you!

4.  Don’t Turn the Lights On - Chromeo

One of the singles off of their latest release.  Chromeo continues to kill dance floors with their electro beats and vibe in a world where other artists similar to them just faded away… Chromeo is STILL HERE going STRONG and better than ever!

5.  Devil’s Spoke - Laura Marling

Okay, so I’ve snuck a little Devil in the set, and though this is technically not really a dance song, you can take off your dancin’ shoes and kick around some dirt in the desert with this tune.  Laura Marling’s voice is haunting, and her songwriting is reminiscent of many of the folk greats.  <3

6.  Don’t Play No Game That I Can’t Win (Sebastian Remix) - Beastie Boys feat. Santigold

— Well that was a mouth full.  This song is also a mouth full of the latest Beastie Boys Lyrics… and if you really wanna get a kick check out the video directed by Spike Jonze.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-QIiVS_7Hs

7.  Don’t Leave Me Alone - DJ Paul Elstak

Its not a dance compilation without a Happy Hardcore original.  DJ Paul Elstak is known for his bouncy candy tunes from the 90’s.  You now know one of my guilty pleasures.   Roll the windows up for this one, or play in the privacy of your own headphones, whatever you need to do to enjoy this tune… you may find yourself secretly smiling because of your newly found guilty pleasure of 90’s happy hardcore.

8.  Dominator - Human Resource

Classic rave.

9.  Do We Move Your World - Felix da Housecat

I’m not sure how popular Felix’s “He Was King” album was… but if you check my library, select tunes from this album will have the most plays.  Another easy listening cool jam for dancing behind the wheel.

10. Dancing With Tears In My Eyes - Ultravox

NO!!  NOT to be mistaken for the more recent song with the same title by Ke$ha. (I wonder where she got it!!?)  Ultravox is an all time favorite band for me.  Their songs are the theme songs of my life.  Here is one that I couldn’t leave out of the Dance compilation.

11.  Digital Suicide - Heartsrevolution

This is the cool down after your 80’s dance class.  A personal favorite.  So make sure you take deep breaths and and get a good stretch so you’re ready for next months compilation.
